Upholstery changes how a furniture form looks, feels and lives in a room. The right choice depends on texture, light, maintenance and the way the piece will be used.
Velvet
Velvet adds depth and responds beautifully to changing light. Its directional pile gives colour a layered appearance, making it well suited to statement seating.
Bouclé
Bouclé brings tactile softness and works particularly well on rounded forms. Its texture creates visual interest even in a restrained palette.
Flat weave
A refined woven fabric offers a quieter surface and can suit frequently used seating. The character depends on fibre, weave density and colour variation.
Leather
Leather gives a clean, tailored expression and develops character with use. Colour, finish and grain should be considered alongside the form of the piece.
Jacquard
Jacquard introduces pattern through construction rather than print. It can add controlled richness to occasional chairs, benches and formal seating.
Review physical samples in the intended light whenever possible; screens cannot fully represent texture or colour.
